Course Overview
The Foundation Montessori Course is a basic Montessori course that has been packaged for people who currently work, or desire to work in the Montessori Early Childhood classroom as TA’s (Teaching Assistants).
It is also suitable for parents or guardians who desire to have a basic knowledge of Montessori Education for the purpose of continuity with their children at home. The course aims at equipping recipients with a basic knowledge of the Montessori philosophy and materials including presentation methods.
It also gives the students the practical knowledge required to effectively support the Directress in the Montessori classroom.
The FMC does not in any way take place of the full Early Childhood (E.C) or Infant Toddler (I &T) course.

Entry Requirements And Qualification
Candidates applying for entry into Foundation certificate course (F.M.C) must have a minimum qualification of a Senior School Certificate (SSCE) or GCSE with a minimum of 4 credits, including English Language. A good command of the English Language is essential on the course.
Candidates who obtain a full degree within 4 years of completion of the Foundation Course, and continue to work with children within the Early Years age range, will be given a discount towards enrolment on the Full Early Childhood (EC) or combined IT & EC Diploma Courses accredited by MACTE.

Study Options
Duration of Course: 3 Months
Students will be expected to attend lectures on Tuesdays & Wednesdays every week and 2 Saturdays every month, culminating a minimum of 100 contact hours.
The lectures now holds Tuesday & Wednesday 6pm -8pm online and Saturday 9am -5pm onsite with one hour break and the lunch to be provided by the students themselves.
Assessment
This will take the form of basic final short written and Multiple Choice Question examination including submission of two curriculum folders in the Practical Life and Sensorial Areas only.

About Instructor
<p>She holds a Masters in Education from the University of Lagos and a Montessori Diploma for 0-6 years from the Montessori Center International, London (1996). She is a certified Montessori Trainer and Special Education Needs (0-8years) certificate holder both from MCI, London. She has served at different capacities within the education sector, including classroom teaching within and without Nigeria, and school headship. She consults for many schools and assists in the establishment of schools and development of Early Childhood curriculum. She is responsible for curriculum development, strategy and planning, and instruction/assessment of students. She also trains and mentors emerging teachers, both at HHMC and beyond.</p>
