Course Overview
The Infant & Toddler Diploma Course is designed to equip existing and intending crèche owners, pre-school teachers and parents and guardians who desire to train as Montessori caregivers and nurturers, learning more about meeting the needs of children in the first three years of life. It is for individuals who desire a high level of professional understanding and a thorough knowledge of the Montessori Method for children aged between zero through three years of age (0 through 3 years). The course provides the right balance of theory and practical experience, which the adult learner requires, with instruction in the development of age appropriate developmental activities, and use of Montessori materials for children aged 0 through 3 years, across the developmental areas. The diploma covers both the academic and practicum phase.
The Academic phase of the course is composed of lectures, research work, presentation of papers, observations, and presentations with materials, student seminars and material making.

The Practicum phase of the course is composed of a minimum of 400 clock hours (four hundred hours) in a Montessori Infant/Toddler Environment. This comprises of supervised care & teaching, observations, interaction with infants and toddlers, preparation and care of the environment.
Practicum also includes completing a practicum portfolio comprising of detailed assignments and projects, time sheets and other record keeping respectively, which help the students integrate knowledge with practice, apply theories and methods and also demonstrate their skills.

About Instructor
<p>She holds a Masters in Education from the University of Lagos and a Montessori Diploma for 0-6 years from the Montessori Center International, London (1996). She is a certified Montessori Trainer and Special Education Needs (0-8years) certificate holder both from MCI, London. She has served at different capacities within the education sector, including classroom teaching within and without Nigeria, and school headship. She consults for many schools and assists in the establishment of schools and development of Early Childhood curriculum. She is responsible for curriculum development, strategy and planning, and instruction/assessment of students. She also trains and mentors emerging teachers, both at HHMC and beyond.</p>
