Heritage House Montessori Center is accredited by MACTE (Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education) for:
- Infant & Toddler programme – I & T (0-3 Years) &
- Early Childhood – EC (3-6 Years) Programme
MACTE is an autonomous, international, non-profit accrediting agency for Montessori Teacher Education Institutes and Programmes. The MACTE Council accredits independent institutions which offer comprehensive certification courses; and programmes or departments located within colleges and universities. Founded in 1995, MACTE is dedicated to improving academic degree and certificate programmes for Montessori professional educators who teach and lead in schools at the Infant and Toddler through Secondary II levels, and to assure the public of their quality. MACTE accredits certification programs based on:
- The evidence they have that they prepare competent, caring, and qualified professional Montessori educators and
- The capacity to monitor and improve their programme’s quality.
MACTE accredited programmes must be members of an organization, consortium, or group of independent institutions. MACTE’s constituency represents a broad range of educational institutions and is not limited to programmes/institutions operating within the United States of America only.
MACTE is a member of the Association of Specialized and Professional Accreditors (ASPA) and is recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE).
MACTE is one of two teacher education accreditors, the other being the Council for the Accreditation of Education Preparation (CAEP).

Why our accreditation is important
An explanation as to what our accreditation really means and the impact it has.
Heritage House Teacher Education Programme is accredited by MACTE (Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education) Our “Accredited status” is a reliable indication of the value and quality of our Teacher Education Programme to the adult learners and the public at large. It ensures that adult learners and the public can expect that we deliver on our promises. It gives the adult learners the confidence that our credential has value and that our institution has worth. For Adult learners who enrol on our programme, in addition to providing value related to judging quality, our accreditation also provides the most extensive privileges and opportunities possible for the Montessori credential of the adult learner to be accepted for employment within and without the country.
In addition, Accreditation:
- Encourages confidence that our Teacher Education Programme has met the established standards and found to be satisfactory.
- Helps Adult Learners who come on our programme to be mobile. Where a student is applying for post-graduate studies upon completion of the Montessori Programme with us, accreditation status will indicate to the institution/college requesting applications that our programme has met threshold expectations of quality.
- Signals to prospective employers that an Adult learner’s educational programme has met widely accepted standards.
- Ensures that our Teacher Education Programme receives support from our affiliated member organisation or group when there is a need to make changes to the programme.
To the public, the accreditation process provides value not only through judging quality, but also assuring reliable information about institutions and programmes, promoting accountability and identifying successful improvement efforts.
